It discusses how Tibetan astrologer-priests use astrology to determine details of a person's past lives by examining their birth chart. Specifically, it examines three aspects: 1) The spiritual entity's place in the sequence of events leading to birth, 2) The level of consciousness in the past life, and 3) Circumstances of the past life that influence the present.

Manly Palmer Hall (1901 – 1990) was an American writer, lecturer, astrologer, and mystic. Over his 70-year career he gave thousands of lectures and published over 150 volumes, of which the best known is The Secret Teachings of All Ages (1928). In 1934 he founded the Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles.
