Joseph Musso was highly respected as a matte painter, storyboard artist, and production artist. With a career spanning over 50 years, he worked with many great directors, such as: Irwin Allen, John Carpenter, Quentin Tarantino, Norman Jewison, Mike Nichols, John Huston, Clint Eastwood, and Alfred Hitchcock. Musso’s illustrations came to life in Torn Curtain, The Towering Inferno, The Phantom of the Opera, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Star Trek: First Contact, Dick Tracy, Naked Gun 33 1/3, In the Heat of the Night, Basic Instinct, Flags of our Fathers, American Me, Space Cowboys, and Hateful Eight among others. In 2017, Musso was presented with the Art Directors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award.
