Stu Mead was born in 1955 in Iowa, and in 1987 he earned a B.F.A from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Since then Stu has garnered a wide cult following in the underground art community, exhibiting his paintings in galleries across the world for over twenty years. His artwork encompasses a fantasy land of erotica where young women are incorporated into bizarre scenarios that transcend fetish genres. His work explores taboos with an equal mix of sexuality and humor and constantly pushes boundaries in ways that other artists merely hint upon. Stu Mead's artwork sits nicely amongst the likes of Charles Addams, Trevor Brown, Henry Darger, and Bill Ward yet truly stands on its own, well-earned merits. His art plays with themes ranging from feminism to adolescent insecurities, and he handles it all with his trademark naughty wit. Stu Mead currently resides in Berlin, Germany. He was featured in the controversial book "Apocalypse Culture 2", published by Feral House in 2000 and the infamous French publisher, Le Dernier Cri, have released several books of his artwork over the years.
