Satan’s Blood Freaks
Rare film stills from the 1969 Al Adamson film
each is 8”x10” in good condition with some damage from age/storage.
Satan’s Blood Freaks was Al Adamson’s 1969 follow-up to the Russ Tamblyn biker feature Satan's Sadists, and was eventually released as Dracula vs. Frankenstein.
Adamson cast Tamblyn back in biker mode with Jim Davis as a police sergeant. It wasn't long before the project morphed into horror territory with the signing of Lon Chaney and J. Carrol Naish in a package deal, joined by Angelo Rossitto as Grazbo, the Evil Dwarf (now it was called The Blood Seekers). Naish received top billing as elderly Dr. Durea, working a 'creature emporium' of gory illusions run by Grazbo since being disgraced by former colleague Dr. Beaumont (Forrest J. Ackerman). In his penultimate movie role, Chaney is cast to type as Groton, the Mad Zombie, so named for his penchant for beheading young girls on the local beach, whose heads are restored by the doctor for a regular supply of female blood. This version was deemed unsatisfactory by producer Samuel M. Sherman, who came up with the admittedly brilliant idea to include Universal's most popular monsters, Frankenstein and Dracula, in new footage shot a year later, 6'7 John Bloom was a physically good choice for the Monster despite a lumpy and leaden mask, but Zandor Vorkov was a woeful and non-threatening presence as the Count. Dracula vs. Frankenstein was eventually released in 1971. These are rare stills from the films original incarnation, without Bloom or Vorkov, and I have no clue if this cut of the film was ever screened or released to the public.
