Tarot Cards for Fun and Fortune Telling, by Stuart R. Kaplan

Tarot Cards for Fun and Fortune Telling, by Stuart R. Kaplan. 1985 hardcover. 95 pages, very nice condition.

An Illustrated Guide to the Spreading and Interpretation of the Popular 78-Card Tarot IJJ Deck of Muller & CIE, Switzerland, includes interpretations and spreads. The author, Stuart Kaplan, founder of US Games Systems, is the person responsible for introducing Tarot cards to a commercial US market from Europe in 1968. He remains a leading collector and authority on Tarot. This book is a rather "deck specific" book for the currently less common, "Swiss I JJ Tarot". I believe at the time of publication, alongside the Ride-Waite deck these two were the most common decks. It is named "Swiss I JJ" because it is reprinted from a Swiss deck, and "JJ" because in this deck the High Priestess card is called "Junon" and the Hierophant card is called "Jupiter."
