Valium Sends More Addicts to Hospitals Than Heroin, by Tracie Rozhon

Valium Sends More Addicts to Hospitals Than Heroin, by Tracie Rozhon. 1978 pamphlet. 1 trifold page, very nice condition.

A reprint of an article from The Baltimore Sun (January 19, 1975). A nice vintage piece, put out by Parker Chiropractic Research Foundation. Valium has been one of the most frequently prescribed medications in the world since its launch in 1963. In the United States it was the best-selling medication between 1968 and 1982, selling more than 2 billion tablets in 1978 alone.

This pamphlet discusses the nature of the high and the addictive properties of the drug, including the illegal means in which it can be obtained. The original article came out right before Valium was reclassified by the federal government as a Schedule IV controlled substance in 1975. Apparently, in the following three years, it only became more popular. The chiropractic folks were pushing for an end to drug use for the treatment of pain.
