The fashion, entertainment, and hairdressing businesses have collapsed, and people are mortally afraid to exhibit the slightest signs of queerness or even of creativity. Without LGBTQ to pick on, the religious right extends its persecution to women, the disabled, and people of color. All of this is illustrated with a light touch in cartoons. For 1994, it’s surprisingly “woke,” with mentions of abortion, racism, and issues we’re still dealing with 28 years later.
