This installment follows the supernatural vigilante known as the Crow—resurrected musician Eric Draven—as he delivers vengeance upon the remaining members of the gang responsible for his and his fiancée Shelly's murder, including Funboy and gang leader T-Bird, before confronting the deeper emotional requirement of self-forgiveness to achieve peace and release from his undead state.

The Tundra Press volumes, including Volume 3: Death, represent the complete and polished realization of O'Barr's vision after Caliber Press published only the initial segments and could not release the intended final chapter due to financial issues. As such, this work contains previously unpublished material from the original Crow storyline, at the time.
