Another fine addition from Sanford and Evans’ Hurts of Childhood series. In this wonderful book, Kristen’s mother has finally come to understand the reality of being a parent and embraces the depression that it causes. She stops getting dressed, or getting off of the couch. Stops taking care of her kids and tries to kill herself. Kristen gets placed with another family and things just get weird from there. I don’t know, I kinda gave up just like Kristen’s mom. Born again Christian strangeness that means well…and tries…but thankfully misses every mark and leaves us with this precious gem.
