Lisa’s Parents Fight (In Our Neighborhood), by Doris Sanford & Graci Evans. 1989 hardcover. 30 pages, very nice condition.
You know them & you love them: America’s greatest contribution to children’s literature, Sanford and Evans. As the title suggests, Lisa’s parents fight. In truth, it’s her mom and stepdad. No clue where her real dad went off to. They yell at each other and beat their kids. The kids are punished and forced to eat McDonalds. One is made to eat out of a dog food bowl on the floor due to his bad manners. There are lots of “Dear God” prayers, surprisingly no magic talking animal, and no real resolution except their school teacher shows up and, I’m guessing, kidnaps them forever.
